Tour of Oman, stage 1: David Dekker 2nd
David Dekker took 2nd place in the 1st stage of the Tour of Oman, after a massive sprint. He is, at the end of the first stage, in the lead of the youth classification.

“Of course you always want to win but Tim Merlier was really strong today and I can be satisfied with a first podium this season. Jenthe and all of my teammates were strong today to get me there. The team did a really good job and we rewarded ourselves with this good result. From tomorrow, the sprinters, we will get to work to protect our designated riders in the overall classification”.
“It was the only stage of the race that was suitable for a bunch sprint. The team’s objective was to do everything possible for David. With a group composed mainly of climbers, we chose to wait until the last 2-3 kilometers to pass, with Anthony and Jenthe to prepare the ground. Jenthe did a great job of putting David in the best possible position, which led to the very good result of the day.”
