14th in Vire, Kévin Vauquelin is now 4th in the overall classification of the Tour de France on the eve of the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team's arrival in Brittany.

What an incredible day! It started with all the spectators and the standing ovation I received this morning at the start, which was already crazy. Then when the race passed my parents' house, my fan club was waiting for me and there was even a hot-air balloon with my portrait on it! I wondered how that was possible? It belongs to a neighbour and I have a history with it. He used to take it out every summer in July, and my brother and I would go and see it in our garden. It also had my portrait on it. From a sporting point of view, I tried again today, but the teams of the favourites for the general classification wouldn't let me out. I have no regrets, the stage was run as we'd imagined and the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team did what was needed, I just didn't have an exit ticket. You always have to try and I've done it and I'll try again on the next stages. We'll see what happens from day to day. I tried to make the most of the crowd along the roadside, and several riders like Jonas Vingegaard came up to me to tell me that the fervour was incredible. He was as thrilled as I was. I thrive on all this support. The public in Normandy have been incredible over the last three days and I know that some of them will follow me all the way to Brittany. What more can I ask for?

There's a big battle on this Bayeux-Vire stage. Kévin set off from his home town, Bayeux, where his parents live. He was cheered and applauded like a rock star. He also had a great time in front of his Fan Club. Once the intermediate sprint was over, we wanted to put a rider in front. Kévin was very keen to do so, but being 3rd in the overall classification, he didn't get a pass from the other teams. Raul Garcia Pierna didn't miss much, even though Ben Healey was ahead of him. Kévin had a go at the fact that he was the local rider on this stage, and emotion got the better of him. But the leaders are keeping an eye on him. There was a great battle in the final, and Kévin was up there with the big guns. This Friday we arrive on home soil with the finish at Mur de Bretagne. Mathieu Van Der Poel is back in the yellow jersey, but he had a big ‘rally’ up front on Thursday, which may have worn him out. What's certain is that we're going to be in the thick of the action on our home turf tomorrow, and we'll be seeing Breton flags everywhere and hearing a lot of ‘allez Kévin’ (go for Kévin).
