The paving stones, Walloon side

The Belgian calendar continues this Tuesday on the Walloon side with the Samyn: a cobbled event on which our World Tour Men and Continental Women teams will be at the start.

“The Samyn is a very demanding race where the cobbled sectors follow one another in the finale. The fact that it is a circuit allows everyone to quickly identify strategic places, and the race becomes more and more nervous as the loops go on. Obviously, the key will be to be well placed every time. We know from this event that if we manage to be outnumbered in the last kilometers, we will be able to achieve something good.”

Laurent Pichon, sports director

“The group is motivated. Most riders will have already completed their first paved races on the opening weekend. We have a valiant team with several cards: the terrain suits men like Luca Mozzato, Jenthe Biermans or Amaury Capiot. The cobbled sectors are decisive in this event. It’s often a race by elimination. Being outnumbered in the final will be essential if we want to get a good result – with a fast man because often it ends with a sprint in a small group.”
