Luca Mozzato: "Dwars door Vlaanderen requires technique and tactics"

Cobblestones and hills: Dwars door Vlaanderen is no exception to the rule that makes the charm of the Flemish classics.

Luca Mozzato

“The course of Dwars door Vlaanderen may be “easier” than the Ronde van Vlaanderen or the E3 Classic, but it is still a prestigious and competitive classic. You can never predict what will happen. You can imagine a sprint finish, but the 2022 scenario proved that it could be decided very early on. Of course, this is a race where you have a better chance of winning in a small sprint, but you have to hang on to get there. I like these races where I can show my qualities, where placement is important, where you have to use technique and tactics to get a good result. I feel pretty good right now.”

Sébastien Hinault, directeur sportif

“This is the last test before the Ronde. It’s one of those classics that takes in the hills that we’ll see on Sunday. Some people say it’s the least “difficult” of the Flemish classics, but it’s still a complicated race with its climbs and cobbled sections. Compared to the races we’ve done so far, better weather conditions are expected. We can have a sprint finish in small groups. As well as a more unbridled scenario. If it ever “makes the race”, Matîs can be one of our assets. In case of a more grouped finish we have runners who have shown a good form in the previous days: Jenthe, David, Luca or Dan.”
