Il Lombardia - Warren Barguil : "I'm motivated to finish in the best way with the team"

The fifth and final Monument of the season, the Giro di Lombardia will mark Warren Barguil’s last race with the Arkéa-Samsic team, while Ewen Costiou will take part in the first of the five greatest cycling classics.

“I’ve had a good feeling in every race since the start of the autumn Italian classics campaign. On Tuesday, at the Tre Valli Varesine, I tried but it didn’t pay off. Despite everything, I felt good. The Giro di Lombardia route in the direction Como-Bergamo has longer climbs than the opposite route. We were able to reconnoitre them today. I’ve been in good condition so far so I’m very motivated to finish on a high note for my last race in the Arkéa-Samsic jersey.”

Ewen Costiou

“I’m proud to be racing my first Monument in my first year as a professional. Lombardy is one of the toughest races of the season. And it will be even tougher when you see the level of the peloton after the Giro dell’Emilia and the Tre Valli Varesine. I hope to be a good relay for the team and Warren. He’s motivated and in very good shape at the moment. His experience in this kind of race will be very beneficial for us.”

Yvon Caër, sports director

“It’s a hell of a finale to this Italian block for some of our climbers and for Warren. He showed in the various races leading up to Lombardy that he was in fine form. As well as enjoying this race, he’s got his bearings on this route from Como to Bergamo, having already finished in the top 10 on the Via Roma, below the city of Bergamo. The team is going to do everything it can for Warren so that he can perform as well as possible.”
