“After the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team training course in Spain in January, I followed it up with another at altitude, in Sierra Nevada. I stayed there for almost a month in total. The job is done before the season resumes at the Clásica de Almería. I worked on intensities and did the tests thoroughly in Gandia, and in Sierra Nevada I worked more on PMA, and I sharpened up a lot. I’ve had good weather conditions, and that’s enabled me to do some nice long rides. The winter training is over, and now it’s time to compete. I’m happy to be racing again at the Clásica de Almería, I’ve seen my team-mates do it, and I’m obviously keen to get a race number on. Seeing Kévin Vauquelin win the individual time trial on the Étoile de Bessèges motivates everyone. I can’t wait to make my debut in my new colours, with my new team-mates. Now it’s time to get back into racing, and get on with the days of competition.”

Sébastien Hinault, sports director

“Tactics will be everything for Arnaud Démare in this race, with a large number of the riders who will form his close guard around him. He will have the benefit of a train made up of Miles Scotson, Florian Sénéchal and Dan McLay. The Clásica de Almería is a race that generally favours sprinters, and the route of this competition is divided into two parts, firstly a line with bumps, and then loops around Almería by the sea”.
