“It was a tough day on very twisty roads. I’m pretty happy with the way I’ve felt since the start of the Critérium du Dauphiné. I tried to get into the sprint, but I was a bit hampered. The main thing is that I’m in good condition, so I need to stay focused. There’s still a long way to go to Grenoble, but it’s encouraging for the days ahead.”

Donavan Grondin retained his best climber jersey at the end of stage 2 of the Critérium du Dauphiné, and now has 7 points in the mountain classification: “I knew I could keep the jersey today, as I came out on top on the first climb. I cramped up afterwards, the first time that’s happened to me. I suffered a lot, but I’m happy to extend my lease on the jersey by another day.
