Tour de Pologne - stage 6: Kévin Vauquelin 7th

Kévin Vauquelin took 7th place in the time trial at the Tour de Pologne today in the streets of Katowice.

“It’s not far from being my best time trial of the season, yet I didn’t have a good feeling about it. Because of my injury, I’ve only been able to do a few specific time trial training sessions, and each time without doing too much intensity. In these conditions, today’s result was a bit unexpected. I’m still a bit short, but I’m satisfied with what I’ve done! I’m getting more and more familiar with the Bianchi Aquila CV. I felt that the bike was going fast, that it was easy to handle and that I was sitting well on it. It really bodes well for the future. For a comeback, a UCI World Tour race is tough. It was complicated at the start but my form is improving, I’m recovering well and that will probably do me good for the races to come.”

Yvon Caër, sports director

“The performance may seem surprising if you look at the complicated start to the race that Kévin had with his crash and all his preparation beforehand. Yesterday, we already felt that things were getting better. Then today, the time trial is ‘his’ thing. He approached it with no pressure, relaxed and that’s perhaps why he’s going for a good result in the end. He’s only five seconds off second place and he finished in the middle of the leaders. It’s really encouraging for what’s to come, because it means we can move forward, stop focusing on the knocks and bumps and prepare well for our next objectives.”
