Kévin Vauquelin to defend his title

Winner of the 2023 edition of the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes, Kévin Vauquelin returns to this event with the number 1 bib. New this year: the introduction of the Classic Var.

Kévin Vauquelin

“I’m delighted to be lining up at the start of the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes. This race takes place on the roads on which I now train all year round. I know them well. Last year, I won a stage and the overall classification. I’m coming back to this event with ambitions, even though I know the competition will be strong. My start to the season has reassured me, and I want to continue in the same vein. Like the rest of the field, I’m going to be discovering the Classic Var, which has a tough final stretch with the Col du Corps de Garde and the ascent of Mont Faron. It’ll be a good test before the two days in the Alpes-Maritimes”.

Roger Tréhin, sports director

“Last year’s Tour des Alpes-Maritimes marked the start of a good season for Kévin Vauquelin. He won a stage and the overall classification. This year, Kévin returns to this competition, where he is the defending champion. We all know his state of mind and his desire to do well every time he rides. He’s motivated not only for the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes, but also for the Classic Var, whose final judge will be Mont-Faron. The competition will be tough, as it has been since the start of the season, but Kévin has already shown that he is in good shape for the start of the season. The ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team will be built around him, but we’ll also have some interesting names in Ewen Costiou for the Classic Var, and Clément Champoussin for the weekend in the Alpes-Maritimes, who like Kévin will be racing at home”.
