Tour of Leuven - Arnaud Démare: "can't wait to pin my first bib on the Arkéa-Samsic jersey"
The Tour of Leuven will mark Arnaud Démare’s debut in the colours of the Arkéa-Samsic team, with which he has been signed up since 1 August 2023.
“The Tour of Leuven is the start of a new season for me. I’m excited at the idea of racing for the Arkéa-Samsic team and doing my first laps with my new team-mates. It’s bound to be a big novelty. I think that this race profile is very good for cohesion, it’s a demanding race. I’m really looking forward to it and I can’t wait to put a number on my Arkéa-Samsic jersey!”
“Tuesday morning at the start of the race, it will be a real pleasure to pin my number on the Arkéa-Samsic team jersey. Running for a Breton team, as a Breton, makes me feel like a standard-bearer for our region. The race itself is interesting, and I think the circuit in Leuven suits my qualities, as it’s very hilly. What’s more, it will also be Arnaud Démare’s first race with our team. When you have a leader like him by your side, it’s always stimulating to work. I’ll be keen to do well so that we can all succeed in our first race together.”
“The Tour of Leuven will mark Arnaud Démare’s competitive debut in the Arkéa-Samsic jersey. The circuit in Leuven is very technical but also physical. It resembles the route of the 2021 World Championships, with a section of cobbled climbs. It’s a semi-classic and we’ve put together a team of classicmen around Arnaud. When you look at the course and the scenario last year, it’s also possible that the race won’t end in a bunch sprint.”
