Tour de Suisse - Mickaël Leveau: "Have an attacking mindset"

Team Arkéa-Samsic will be lining up at the start of the Tour de Suisse (June 11-18) for the very first time in its history.

Pre-race

“I’ve got family in Switzerland, so I know a bit about the roads there. I even took part in a few races as a junior, not forgetting that the Tour de France in 2022 made a stopover in Switzerland. I’ve just come back from a three-week course at altitude in Sierra Nevada. It was the first time I’d ever done one. We were able to climb quite a lot, the weather wasn’t always great, but we were able to work hard. It was a good training camp. I did two races in Belgium last week and I had a pretty good feeling at the Brussels Classic (NB: where he finished 7th). The Tour de Suisse will be a completely different kind of race, with a lot of mountains. We’ve got Dan for the stages that can end in a bunch sprint, and then, if I get the chance on a stage or two, why not try something?

The briefing

“The Tour de Suisse offers different race profiles over eight days. The high mountains will of course be on the programme and it will be a good first approach for our young riders such as Ewen Costiou, Mathis Le Berre and Louis Barré. Dan Mc Lay will be our sprinter in the event of a mass finish, while Luca Mozzatto will be able to make the most of a slightly punchier finish that has ruled out pure sprinters. We’ll be keen to go on the offensive in this historic event on the UCI WorldTour calendar, with riders like Matîs Louvel and Andrii Ponomar who can go for it.
