Raúl García Pierna finishes in the top ten
Raúl García Pierna took 9th place in Chantada on the Gran Camiño. Thanks to a bonus at the start of the race, he is now in 8th place overall.

“This second stage was both a beautiful and difficult day for me. I didn’t have the best legs but in the end I think I’m where I should be. The team worked well. We needed someone up front and Embret made a big effort to get there. Behind, I was well supported by my team-mates: they protected me well and put me in a good position… The third stage on Saturday looks easier on paper but we always have to be on our guard. You never know what might happen.”
“The aim of the day was to put someone in the breakaway to anticipate the manoeuvres of Visma – Lease a Bike, who were bound to make the race harder on the penultimate climb. Embret managed to get into the breakaway, unfortunately a little against the clock, which cost him some energy later in the race. All our other riders supported Raúl well. They worked hard! The whole team gives him; and he gives it back to his team-mates.”
