Giro del Veneto: Luca Mozzato and Matîs Louvel claim a top-10
On the heights of Vicenza, Luca Mozzato and Matîs Louvel took 6th and 8th place respectively in the Giro del Veneto.
“Today I was a bit more motivated than usual because I wasn’t running very far from home. I wanted to do well. I got a good top 10. The team did a good job, even though it’s the end of the season and we’re still 100% motivated. Of course, we could have achieved a better result, but we can be satisfied with ourselves. We all believed in it right up to the end.”
“The race finished with a demanding circuit around Monte Berico. It was a tiring day with the heat. We would have liked a better result, but collectively we showed that we were capable. Personally, it felt good. The last two weeks have been complicated and it wasn’t easy mentally. This top 10 finish gives me the morale and good feeling I need to finish the year well, have a good winter and get off to a good start for 2024.”
“We optimised the day so as to have some possibilities in the final with Luca or Hugo because we could see that it was going to be a sprint on the last climb. Luca doesn’t need much in the final. Our riders showed solidarity and they showed that they’re in good shape because we still had a lot of elements in the peloton when the race got tougher. We can expect good things on Sunday for the Veneto Classic, on a more difficult course.”
