Druivenkoers-Overijse & Egmont Cycling : race preview

Team Arkéa-Samsic will be at the start of the “Course aux Raisins” in Overijse and the Egmont Cycling Race, a reprise for Ewen Costiou and Donavan Grondin.

Ewen Costiou

“I resumed training over a week ago after my crash at the Tour of Wallonie. It hurt me a bit morally to miss out on a block of races where I was in good form, but now I’m focusing on this final part of the season. I feel that the level is back, and the pace of the race will tell me. I hope to be in good form from the start and the profile of the race around Overijse may suit me, it’s a course I like.”

Donavan Grondin

“I’ve recovered well from the World Championships and I’m switching 100% to the road for the end of the season with the Arkéa-Samsic team. Obviously, there’s a bit of a readjustment period, but these two events are ideal for getting back into the swing of things. We can expect two days of intense racing this weekend.”

Anrud Gérard, sports director

“We’ll have two tough races to contend with this weekend, including the ‘Course aux Raisins’ in Overijse where we are the outgoing winners. It won’t be as difficult as last season, because it won’t have any cobbled hills, but it will still be very fast-paced and tense. On Sunday, you could say that the profile is ‘easier’ because it’s flatter, but there will be cobbled sections. If you want to shine, you’ll need to be in the right places, and that’s the key to these always tense races. And if there’s a sprint, we’ll be able to count on Hugo and Jenthe.”
