Tour of Wallonie (5th stage) - Mathis Le Berre 6th in Aubel

“I felt good on this 5th stage of the Tour de Wallonie. The team had asked me to protect Thibault so that he could keep his 6th place overall. And if I felt good in the final, I could go for my sprint. I was able to squeeze through with my small frame, and it was a finish that started at 70km/h and finished on a two or three per cent gradient. It’s my first top 10 in the pros and I’m really happy. I came 6th. It bodes well for the future.

“We’ve confirmed my 6th place in the final general classification of the Tour of Wallonia. I’m the one in this position, but it’s the fruit of Alan’s work at the start of the race, before the Roche aux Faucons. And Mathis, who then gave me plenty of cover, and then went on to take 6th place, in a sprint, at the finish. We played our cards perfectly. It’s a good result for the team, and an interesting one for the rest of the season”.
