Gent-Wevelgem: Dan McLay grabs a top 10

Dan McLay took 10th place in Ghent-Wevelgem, a race held in dreadful conditions.

Daniel McLay

“It was a very hard race. I tried to hang on and follow as long as possible. I was a bit limited on the last climb of Mount Kemmel but I managed to get into the group that was fighting for 3rd place. I didn’t have a perfect finish behind but I’m still happy with my top 10 today. It shows that I can perform well in this kind of race with the ambition to come back and do better.”

Sébastien Hinault, directeur sportif

“We experienced tough conditions from start to finish, with rain and sometimes a little wind. They were warriors to do 260 kilometers in such conditions. Dan and Luca were solid. With about 20 kilometers to go, we were still hoping for a podium, then a top 5. In the end it was a top 10. These are the places we want to put the team in on these events. I know we can do it. It was a good day overall. It was interesting to put Jenthe in that big breakaway. It was good for him and for his teammates as well who he was able to serve as a relay.”
