Valentina Cavallar joins ARKEA-B&B HOTELS

The 23-year-old Austrian rower has signed a contract with the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team. She will make her debut under her new colours at the Grand Prix de Chambéry on Sunday 14 April.

Valentina’s words:

“I’ve been rowing for ten years. I started when I was 13, and my first international competition came four seasons later. It was the World Junior Championships. I was also selected in the coxless double for the Tokyo Olympics. We finished thirteenth. I won the Austrian individual champion title eleven times. But I’ve always dreamt of cycling competitively, at professional level. I recently went through a series of tests in Brittany with Gaël Le Bellec, which proved conclusive and led to the signing of a contract with ARKEA-B&B HOTELS. Cycling has been my great passion for three years now, and I’ve always enjoyed doing it alongside my rowing. My biggest dream is the Tour de France, and I’d like to shine in this event in the future. I hope that the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team will be invited to take part in this race this summer. My cycling skills are above all those of a climber. I’m happy to be part of the development plan that the team staff want to give to the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS squad, and I’m going to do everything I can to make my contribution.”

Emmanuel Hubert, General Manager

“Valentina Cavallar is an athlete with a proven track record in a discipline other than cycling: rowing. She has more than ten individual national titles to her name in her native Austria, as well as a selection in the coxless pair at the Tokyo Olympic Games. But for the last three years, she has been cycling with a clear objective: to become a professional. An athlete monitored by Gaël Le Bellec, she recently underwent a series of physical tests that demonstrated her full potential. Her qualities are those of a climber. Valentina will be reinforcing this potential by joining the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Women’s team. Her sporting dream is to take part in the Tour de France. Our aim is to qualify our ARKEA-B&B HOTELS women’s team for the 2024 edition of the Tour de France. This first experience of the Women’s Tour could be the perfect way for her to learn the ropes and lay the foundations for the future.”
