The order was in the breakaway, and Thibault went for it. The goal was for him to serve as a support for Embret in the final, but Thibault didn't have great legs. Embret had an encouraging first professional Tour of Lombardy, considering the start list and the field at the start. He finished one minute and thirty seconds off the top ten, at just 22 years of age. I would like to congratulate the staff and riders who took part in this final monument of the season.
