On the line

“It’s great to start the Cyclo-cross World Championships with this success in the mixed relay. It’s a real pleasure to wear the World Champion’s jersey, and what’s more, we’re sharing it as a team. It puts extra pressure on us because we don’t want to ‘miss out’ on our team-mates. We won the European Mixed Relay Championship at the start of the season, on the Pontchateau circuit, and that was a first for France. We won here in the Czech Republic at the world championships, and that’s another ‘first’ for France. It’s great to be able to add to our list of victories at both continental and international level. I started first, so I was the first relay player in the team. I had to take time over our opponents, but I had a few problems at the start. However, I managed to put things right and I handed over to my team-mate in first position ahead of all the other nations. It was also good to race on the Tabor circuit in race trim on the eve of the U23 World Championship. I’m happy with the way I felt, and it was a good way to get the ball rolling with a great win at the end”.
