Victor Guernalec and Piette Thierry led the way on Friday's 6th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, which was also the first in the mountains. Victim of a crash on Thursday, Louis Rouland was forced to retire.

In line with what we've been asking of the riders since the start of this Critérium du Dauphiné, which is to exist, to be active, to have no regrets and to anticipate things, the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS collective once again showed itself to be offensive. I don't think it mattered much that Victor Guernalec's breakaway took longer. Then it's Pierre Thierry who goes into a breakaway. The guys are committed. You can't blame them. We suspected that the final would be complicated, with the best in the general standings going for the win. There are still two good stages left. We have nothing to be ashamed of. Unfortunately, we lost Louis Rouland on this sixth stage. He could have been our trump card this weekend. In view of his injuries following his crash on Thursday, he did a test this morning and wanted to take the start. We quickly realized that it would be too difficult, so we decided to tell him to stop.
