Valentina Cavallar wasted no time in confirming her success of last week's Gresivaudan Classic with a 3rd place overall in the Tour des Pyrénées.

My aim was to win this Tour of the Pyrenees. So I'm a bit disappointed with my poor performance yesterday. Thanks to the excellent teamwork of my team-mates, we had a great race today and I'm happy to have finished third overall. The collective work of the whole team was incredible over these three stages and I'd like to thank them warmly for that. The girls were great and we were really strong together. I'm just a bit sad that I didn't have the legs to win this Tour.

We tried to get into the race and destabilise our rivals by working hard as a team. It didn't work out too well for us, but we have to remember the way the riders behaved. We took the lead at the foot of the last climb for Valentina. She ended up third overall, which is still a good performance. But I really want to emphasise the strength and collective commitment of the riders and staff.
