A good first for Clémence Latimier

On her first outing in the Excalibur jersey, Clémence Latimier showed herself to be at her best on a race with a very special character, the Pointe du Raz Ladies Classic and its ribins.

The ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team followed the plan for the first part of the race. They were all present in a group of 60 that quickly broke away. The repetition of passages in the ribins (stony paths) began to cause breaks. Marjolein van't Geloof had a problem on a ribin, which meant she had no chance of making any impact on the final. Clémence Latimier and Amandine Fouquenet were doing well in a leading group that was getting smaller as the kilometres went by. Unfortunately, Amandine also ran into trouble on the final circuit. In her first race with the Excalibur jersey on her shoulders, Clémence made a big impression by finishing in the group that was fighting for 6th place.

It was a difficult race, with a succession of ribins, so you had to be careful with your positioning. There was no dead time, the selection was made from the back until the finish on the final circuit where the good breakaway took shape. I found myself isolated in a counter group of around thirty riders when Amandine Fouquenet got bored. I tried to follow the moves to get the race going again, but I quickly realised that we were going to have to fight it out in a sprint for 6th place. I lack a bit of ease and strength to play in this context, but I'm happy with the way I feel. I'm already looking ahead to the next two days, whose profile suits me a little better.
