Pierre Thierry and Thibault Guernalec led the 5th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné between Saint-Priest and Mâcon (183 km), the latter being caught by the peloton three kilometers from the finish.

The watchword this morning was to be offensive. And we were. Pierre Thierry was in front, but the peloton wanted to play. It came back to thirty seconds. Then I saw Benjamin Thomas attack. I went along with him, considering that it was better for the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team to be represented at the front by two riders rather than just one. We played it out right up to the finish. I was really struggling, but I tried to keep giving it my all, because you never know. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. We tried. I'd also like to thank Pierre for the day. Once we had a headwind it was more complicated. We just lacked a little something...

The ARKEA - B&B HOTELS team played an active role in this 5th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. We knew the breakaway could go all the way. We imagined a bigger battle at the start. Three of them, including Pierre Thierry, got out. Thibault Guernalec made a good comeback with Benjamin Thomas. They're good rollers who like this kind of finish. There's not much missing. It's a bit frustrating. When you give everything, you can't have any regrets. We gave it our all. That's how races are won. We're sticking to our line on this Critérium du Dauphiné by being actors. The only slight disappointment was Louis Rouland's crash in the final. We hope he'll recover well for the mountain stages.
