Nicolas Milesi wins and takes the leader's jersey

Already third in the Tour du Poitou-Charentes, Nicolas Milesi confirmed his form by winning the second stage of the Tour du Frioul. This puts him in the lead jersey.

I am very happy with this success. Thursday was not an easy day for us, the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team, and even today it seemed very difficult to try anything. The stage was completely flat, with wide roads, and many sprint teams were involved. But Maxime gave us a great briefing, emphasising the last roundabout. Edoardo, Swann and I made a big sprint to break away from the peloton. They launched me perfectly, and I finished alone, doing a good time trial over several kilometres. I am very happy with this success, and I want to dedicate it to the entire ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team, the staff, and my teammates. I feel fit and in good form, and this success confirms that, with the added bonus of the Tour of Friuli leader's jersey.

The stage was completely flat. I checked the entire route, because we don't have any sprinters, and there was only one opportunity, a roundabout. I persuaded our riders that trying here would work, even though the others thought it wouldn't. Edoardo Zamperini and Swann Gloux went all out with Nicolas Milesi on their wheel. They gained ten, twenty seconds and then it was up to Nicolas. He did it, he was the only one who could do it. We made the impossible possible. We managed to turn the tide, and I will remember my debriefing last night and the briefing this morning for a long time. With this success, Nicolas proves that he is one of the best riders in the under-23 category. I didn't want us to go to the finish line without doing anything, but to give everyone a tactical plan. They executed it perfectly, down to the last millimetre for Nicolas, as agreed in this morning's plan.
