The first stage of the Tour de Wallonie was marked by a long breakaway by Nicolas Milesi.

Sportif director

Nicolas Milesi made the breakaway of the day, but the big teams immediately took control behind him, as they didn't want to let any big gaps open up. With Nicolas up front, we didn't have to ride. We had pinned our hopes on Florian Sénéchal, who was led out by Luca Mozatto for the sprint, but he couldn't find an opening. Louis Rouland, who is our hope for the general classification, finished in the peloton, which is good news ahead of the difficult stages to come.
