Perfectly supported by Ewen Costiou and Raúl García Pierna, Kévin Vauquelin fought hard on the slopes of Mont-Ventoux. On the evening of stage 16, Kévin is in 6th place in the provisional overall classification of the Tour de France.

The foot of the climb went pretty well for me until Jonas Vingegaard went on the attack. I took it in my stride and then tried to set my own pace. I'd like to thank Ewen and then Raúl who got up from the breakaway to help me. They helped me get back into the right tempo. Raúl put on a big train and we climbed all the way to the summit. They helped me to close the gap and we fought right to the end. All my team-mates were really extraordinary today, and I'd also like to pay tribute to the work of Arnaud and Amaury in positioning me at the foot. I'd never done the Ventoux before and I can tell you, it hurts now!

Another very fast stage between Montpellier and Mont Ventoux. We stuck with Kévin in the first part of the race and the guys were vigilant to follow the right move. Ewen and Raúl found themselves in the day's breakaway. He knew that it was all down to Kévin today and having them at the front helped us. Kévin got stuck in the steepest part of the climb when Vingegaard and Pogacar attacked. Ewen and Raúl waited for him straight away to support him. Ewen put in a good shift as far as Chalet Reynard, then Raúl kept up the effort all the way to the finish. It was important to have some manpower around Kévin. We're still here, Kévin is 6th overall, which is his position in the mountain hierarchy, I think, but the Tour is long. We'll be fighting right to the end.
