Kévin Vauquelin took 2nd place in the first stage of the Tour de Suisse in his comeback race after a training camp at altitude.

I didn't let up for the whole stage! I went on the offensive right from the start, attacking on my own. Then the breakaway group formed. There were three of us from ARKEA-B&B HOTELS at the front, with Ewen, Mathis and myself. It was a good day for my return to competition. I felt good throughout the race. I managed my effort on the big climb of the day, because I knew I could hope for something on this first stage of the Tour de Suisse between Küsnacht and Küsnacht. Unfortunately during the race, I lost my glasses, and with the rain and the storm, at one point I couldn't see anything. I was in Romain's wheel when he set off, and when I braked, he took the lead with the wind at his back in the final part of the race. My two breakaway companions gave it their all just like me, but Romain was the strongest today. There's nothing to say. We'll have to take it one day at a time and see what happens next in the Tour de Suisse.

It's a good start for the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team on this 2025 edition of the Tour de Suisse. Kévin Vauquelin's second place on this first stage is pleasing, but we always want more. I think victory was almost possible. After that Romain Grégoire was very strong. What I also want to remember is that out of a group of more than twenty breakaway riders, we had three who represented the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team, Kévin Vauquelin, Mathis Le Berre and Ewen Costiou, who was making his competitive comeback following his scaphoid fracture on 18 April. Mathis did an incredible job so that the breakaway could get as much of a lead as possible. You can see that Ewen hasn't lost too much time over his injury, and that he's worked hard over the last few weeks. As for Kévin, he was physically strong. He ran well, Romain Grégoire attacked on the descent. His group couldn't keep up with him, but Kévin was there, present. It's a good start to the Tour of Switzerland for us, and I'd like to congratulate the whole team today for their commitment and the desire they showed on this stage.
