Ewen Costiou
Ewen, how are you?
"I've just come back from a high-altitude training course with Kévin Vauquelin. We spent 21 days at Isola 2000, and then I'll be racing again at the Tour de Suisse. An event I'm already familiar with, having competed in 2023, the year Gino Mader sadly passed away. It's a very well organized race, with beautiful courses. I'm going to get out of my altitude training and follow it up with this competition. I don't know how my legs will feel. I'll have to see as the days go by. What's certain is that the end of this Tour de Suisse will offer some fine mountain stages, and a fine time trial to finish. So it'll be a good test for me to see where I stand".
Can you tell us about the time between your injury and your return to competition?
"I had surgery on my scaphoid fracture very soon after my fall at the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs. I spent a week convalescing in Brittany, with my family and friends, and then returned to the South of France. There, I immediately started riding on the home-trainer again, then when I got the green light from the surgeon and the team doctors, I started training on the road again. I didn't lose too much time".
After the Tour de Suisse, you'll follow up with the French Championships, Ewen?
"Yes, I will. I'll be racing the time trial and the road race. I'm hoping to improve on my Cassel performance in the time trial. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take part in last year's French Championships because I was injured. We'll have ambitions for the road race. The aim will be to bring the tricolour jersey back to Brittany, on behalf of the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS collective."
