Arnaud Démare took second place in the second stage of the Tour Poitou-Charentes. He takes the lead in the provisional overall classification ahead of Thursday's time trial.

Another second place. I'm disappointed. The ARKEA – B&B HOTELS team was strong once again. We knew that Dorian Godon (winner) would be a contender at the finish line. I was still in front 20 metres from the line, but he was stronger. I have no regrets. The team did a great job. We were where we wanted to be. I want things to change because I've been collecting second places this season. On the first stage of this Tour Poitou-Charentes, I think I had the victory in my legs. I made a tactical mistake. Today, I don't think I could have done any more physically or tactically. I'm in good shape physically. There's one more flat finish on Friday and I hope I can be in contention again. I have the leader's jersey before the time trial. I'm going to give it my all, even though there are some good specialists here. We'll see. I'm focusing on the current momentum of the red and black team.

Another second place for Arnaud. We are pleased because few people thought he would be able to win on this type of hilly finish. He was overtaken in the final metres by Dorian Godon. Arnaud is back in great physical shape. The entire ARKEA – B&B HOTELS team put their trust in him and did an impeccable job once again. He takes the leader's jersey before the time trial. We hope to still be in the lead on Friday, perhaps with Thibault Guernalec, the time trial specialist.
