Alessandro Verre regained the Vuelta climber's jersey in Ceres, where Léandre Lozouet finished 16th.

The stage was very grueling, the climb went up very quickly. It was very tough going right up to the finish. I had a bit of trouble positioning myself before the final. I had a good climb but I was too far behind at the bottom and I couldn't close the gap. I managed to move up five or six places, but I couldn't do any more than that. We're all in good shape, so we're going to try to do some great things during this Tour of Spain.

We're leaving Italy tomorrow, and it will be a great moment to leave my country wearing the polka dot jersey of the Vuelta a España. My plan was to go on the breakaway and win the best climber classification. I'm happy with my start to the Vuelta. It's great for the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team and for me to have a distinctive jersey in a Grand Tour. I'm going to take each day as it comes and make the most of this jersey on Tuesday on the roads of Italy before arriving in France. The stage will still be difficult with two climbs at the start of the race. Right now, I want to enjoy these wonderful moments above all else

Alessandro managed to break away and scored the mountain points, allowing him to regain the Vuelta's best climber jersey. He will leave his country tomorrow wearing one of the Vuelta's leader jerseys. The Lild Trek team set a fast pace in the final, which eliminated quite a few sprinters, including Jenthe Biermans. Léandre Lozouet, who is discovering a Grand Tour for the first time, put in a strong sprint and finished 16th, which is encouraging. He is in good shape, discovering his potential and making a good start to the Vuelta. Our two leaders are in contention, which is also satisfying.
