The ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team has achieved its first success of the season. It was achieved this Thursday in a sprint on the Plages Vendéennes.

First race with the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS continental development team. I'm delighted to offer the team this success, which is the culmination of all the hard work put in by all my team-mates. We wanted to do well, to show our collective strength. We were there to race, whatever the scenario. We wanted to be there and that's what we did. At the end, when it all came together, everyone applied to the letter the instructions given by Léonard Cosnier, our sporting director. I'd like to thank all my team-mates, especially Baptiste Poulard and Axel Bouquet, who gave me a great lead-out. All I had to do was conclude their work.

The initial strategy was to tighten up the race in anticipation of a sprint in Emmanuel Houcou's favor. Emmanuel won, but the scenario didn't unfold entirely as we'd imagined. There was a lot of fighting in the first fifty kilometers. They were completed in an hour, which shows how fast things went. We had to assume the status of favourites, which was normal. The ARKEA-B&B HOTELS riders held their ground. The finish was exemplary. It was a textbook sprint. It's important to win the first race of the season for the continental ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team. I'd also like to mention the superb work done by Paul Thierry and Axel Bouquet, who have just come through the U19 ranks, and who rode behind the breakaways. Hats off to both of them, but also to the other five, who demonstrated a very fine state of mind.
