On the line

“The whole team did a great job for Arnaud and me from start to finish. Luca and Jenthe did a great job to place us at the foot of the climb and in the foothills of the citadel, which meant that Arnaud and I were in the top 5-10. Two riders came out to fight it out for the win, but I couldn’t go straight away. I went out at the wrong time and then, at the last bend, a rider crashed into the barriers, which meant that Arnaud and I were stuck and we had to come to a halt to negotiate the last 300 metres. I’m disappointed because I really could have done better in terms of results. But I’d like to say a big thank you to the team for their confidence and the work done by our team-mates”.

The debrief’

“Ewen Costiou was on the attack last year in this event as a trainee, and he has confirmed his excellent qualities as an up-and-coming puncheur.  Aged 20, he came back from the summit of the Citadelle de Namur to take ninth place in the Grand Prix de Wallonnie. Unfortunately, he and Arnaud were hampered by another rider’s crash on the final bend, and like many of their rivals, were unable to put in a full effort. I’d also like to pay tribute to the fine teamwork put in by the whole team on this event”.
