Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var, Nacer Bouhanni's restart

Nacer Bouhanni will resume racing this week on the roads of the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var, the Arkéa-Samsic team will also be based around Clément Champoussin and Kévin Vauquelin

Pre-race

“I was unable to get back on the bike for five days because of the shock to my head, but also because of the pain that is still there since I had an intercostal muscle tear. I have been able to train normally since my recovery. I feel that I am progressing, now we will see how I will feel on the roads of the Haut-Var, because competition is not the same thing as training. What is certain is that I am happy to take part in the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var because I have family and many close friends who live in this region”.

“I have good sensations after racing Down Under, the first UCI WolrdTour of my career. I will start again at the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var it will be a good race for the team and I intend to do a good job for my team-mates and leaders. I have already seen some editions of this race on television, I don’t know this region yet. But I think that the passes of the Alpes-Maritimes are very hard. I think that it will be a race adapted to my profile, I feel good these last weeks, a condition that I will put at the service of my leaders when the road rises”.

The briefing

“Clément Champoussin and Kevin Vauquelin will be our two trump cards in this 2023 edition of the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var, which will give them the opportunity to make their mark with this status, before finding it a few days later on the roads of Paris-Nice. Kevin is coming off a promising Étoile de Bessèges, and Clément will be racing on his home ground. This race will also mark Nacer’s comeback in France, after his crash on the final stage of the Troéfo Ciclista de Mallorca. Nacer has resumed training fairly quickly and this competition, which offers limited opportunities to sprinters, will allow him to get back into the swing of things and above all to get back into the rhythm of competition”.
